I absolutely loved it.

I also found her very professional as her class always starts on time and she teaches through what she planned to teach even though she is extremely tired or has a fever. You won’t know till the class finishes. She has a really good sense of humor and her class is always fun to be in, but doesn’t waste time too much by chatting with students. Then when the time was right, she decided to start a performance class. It was a wonderful experience which I will never forget. As one gets close to Christel, they will notice she is not only a great dancer and great instructor, but also has a warm heart and cares about people.

I had the honor and privilege of participating with Christel’s first ladies performance group. Christel’s work was a labor of love. While each of the ladies had varying levels of experience, she challenged each and everyone of us to take our dancing to the next level. She offered the perfect combination of support and tough love to elevate my confidence and improve my dancing. Her dedication and drive for perfection is infectious. I recommend taking her class for anyone who is looking for the extra style and flair in their dancing.

The little hidden secret is Christel Akanny is not only a talented and beautiful dancer, she is an equally gifted teacher and choreographer. In a few months she took six women with very different skills and helped each one of us reach unimaginable heights.

As a first time performer, my initial steps were cautious and very tentative. In a few months, Christel taught me self expression through various techniques of isolation and body movements. She inspired the best from us all as we tried to emulate her graceful shoulder rolls and perfect turns. She was demanding, but always patient and generous with her time.

I have become a better dancer and I credit all to Christel. As I continue my journey, I can only hope to become as fluid and poised as Christel. She is truly amazing.

Tall and lanky, elegant, exuding grace……Her execution is flawless. Her attention to detail stellar. She makes it all look effortless. No one could look at Christel’s dancing and not be mesmerized.

But what you don’t know until you get to know her better, is how well she can convey the mechanics of her unique style to others. And how much fun you will have learning it. Through many rehearsals, and her call to do it again, do it better, do it with heart and a grin. She inspires you to be your personal best. All this while making you feel comfortable, and having the most terrific time. Because she dances with her heart, she attracts students that are there to give their all, and are such fun to be with. Rehearsals are times of lots of work, but always filled with laughter. Sometimes they were the highlight of my week.

I am not only a better dancer because of my time with Christel, but so much more confident as well. My own sense of theater…..looking at the audience, smiling, being present and projecting a beautiful profile has been truly enhanced. She has indelibly changed the way that I dance, and the way that I feel about myself when I dance. For that, I am eternally grateful!
